London (ANTARA News) - Duta Besar RI untuk Budapest, Mangasi Sihombing
minta agar pelaksanaan perdagangan karbon tidak merugikan negara-negara
berkembang baik dalam soal harga maupun kesempatan dalam mengembangkan
industri.
"Penggunaan teknologi emisi rendah adalah ideal, namun biayanya mahal bagi
negara-negara berkembang," ujarnya dalam ceramah di depan guru dan aktivis
lingkungan serta petugas medis rumah sakit penderita cacat asuhan gereja
Lutheran di Budapest.

Climate negotiators gave a standing ovation to the outgoing head of the
U.N. climate change secretariat Wednesday even after he told them they
would be at risk of a red card in a soccer match for wasting time.
Dutchman Yvo de Boer, who steps down from July 1 after four years in the
job, said governments were doing too little to stick to a promise to limit
a rise in world temperatures to below 2 degrees Celsius (3.6 F) above
pre-industrial times.

China could face increasing pressure in U.N. climate talks after data
released on Wednesday showed the country's carbon dioxide emissions from
fossil fuel rose by 9 percent in 2009, bucking a global downtrend.China's
greenhouse gases from fuels like oil and coal grew to 7.5 billion tonnes,
even though global emissions fell for the first time since 1998 as
industrial output and fuel consumption dropped amid a global recession, BP
data showed.

OECD Tells G20 Fossil Fuel Subsidies Should End

The OECD urged governments to end fossil fuels subsidies in a statement on
Wednesday that argued this could cut greenhouse gas emissions by 10
percent and help deliver on G20 promises to combat global warming. Leaders
of the Group of 20 economic powers meet in Toronto in late June and
pledged last September in Pittsburgh to press for a phase-out over the
medium term, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development
said.
