Moratorium Hutan :Koalisi Sipil Desak Presiden Segera Terbitkan Inpres

Jakarta, Kompas - Koalisi masyarakat sipil mendesak Presiden Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono untuk segera menerbitkan instruksi tentang jeda tebang atau moratorium hutan alam. Penundaan jeda tebang berarti membiarkan hutan Indonesia hilang lebih banyak lagi.Demikian surat terbuka kepada Presiden yang disampaikan perwakilan sejumlah lembaga, seperti HuMa, Wahana Lingkungan Hidup Indonesia (Walhi), Jaringan Kerja Pemetaan Partisipatif (JKPP), Greenpeace, Indonesian Center for Environmental Law (ICEL), Aliansi Masyarakat Adat Nusantara (AMAN), dan Bank Information Center (BIC), di Jakarta, Senin (7/2). Mereka menyikapi tertundanya pemberlakuan jeda tebang atau moratorium hutan yang direncanakan mulai Januari 2011.

Governments in the Asia-Pacific region face the risk of unprecedented numbers of people displaced by floods, storms and other impacts of climate change, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) said in a report on Monday.The bank and climate scientists said the region, home to 4 billion people, will be among the regions most affected by the impacts of climate change, leading to major migration both within and between nations, stretching resources.

Austria's carbon emissions registry has tracked European permits that were stolen in a coordinated cyber attack last month to accounts in Liechtenstein and Sweden, where they have been frozen, the registry said.

Austria said last month that 488,141 permits were missing.

"In the course of the cyber attack on the Austrian emissions trading registry in the beginning of January, illegal transactions were carried out. The illegally transferred allowances have been frozen in accounts in Liechtenstein and Sweden," the registry said on its website on Monday.
