Saya ganti judulnya ya, karena topiknya agak bergeser.. :-)
Pak Yodi,
Kalau untuk pampers dan pembalut, sekarang sudah ada yang ramah lingkungan, yaitu terbuat dari kain.
Untuk popok, ada yang simpel seperti popok kain segiempat yang tipis dari bahan tetra itu yang sejak dulu ada. Ada juga yg lebih canggih, dengan bahan yang berlapis2 plus velcro sehingga penggunaannya mudah dan tidak tembus.
Untuk pembalut, bukan lagi menggunakan handuk digulung seperti jaman dulu, tetapi juga sudah dibuat canggih berlapis2 yang menyerap, tipis, namun tidak tembus.
Keduanya bisa dicuci dan dipakai ulang, sehingga tidak ada lagi sampah pampers dan pembalut.
Cara ini sangat ramah lingkungan juga jauh lebih sehat.
Kalau ada yg berminat bisa japri ke saya :-)
(maaf nebeng jualan hehehe..)
Btw tapi ada satu hal saya mau tanya ke Bapak/Ibu sekalian di sini.
Pada beberapa pembalut dan popok kain itu biasanya ada lapisan PUL (polyurethane laminate) yang membuat pembalut dan popok kain tidak tembus cairan. Itu jenis plastik bukan ya? (Mudah2an bukan :-D)
Kalau itu jenis plastik juga, sebenarnya secara jangka panjang tetap akan menambah jumlah sampah plastik, walaupun tidak sebanyak pampers dan pembalut sekali pakai.
Apakah ada info bahan yang tidak tembus cairan tapi bukan plastik? Kalau ada nanti saya usulkan ke produsen pembalut dan popok kain. Mudah2an bahannya tidak terlalu mahal :-)

Susah juga pak, sebenarnya kita sendiri juga butuh plastik. Yang diperlukan adalah material pengganti plastik yang memiliki kekuatan ikatan unsur yang setara dengan plastik namun ramah lingkungan. Styrofoam dan Plastik sama2 mengkhawatirkan. Salah satu sampah yang jadi masalah juga sampah pampers dan pembalut yang justru berbahaya karena kandungan biologisnya. Apakah pemecahannya yang ideal? Dear kawan2, Informasi ilmiah mutakhir ini semakin meyakinkan kita bahwa gerakan anti plastik harus makin digalakkan. Setiap org harus mulai risau / semakin merasa bersalah menggunakan dan membuang plastik yang nyata-nyata meracuni planet. Ketergantungan akan plastik harus terus digugat dengan semangat yang makin militan. Bayangkan, sdh muncul sekelompok orang yang berjuang untuk 'melegalkan ganja' karena alasan2 yang ilmiah, katanya. . Jadi untuk plastik, mari kita tidak kurang militannya berjuang mengurangi konsumsi plastik, sampai akhirnya masyarakat kita bebas plastik ! Ayo siapa akan mulai ? Salam, Bintang. "Eco-friendly plastics memang bisa terurai tapi prosesnya sangat lama dan lambat. Tidak bisa dicampur dengan komposting karena akan mengacaukan hasil dan proses kompos Kesimpulan scientists: oxo-degradable plastics itu gak ada manfaatnya buat lingkungan... " Eco-friendly plastics disintegrate, but might just linger in the environment. Although it is clear that 'degradable' plastic bags, for example, will fall apart in the environment, the resulting fragments can persist for a long time, and there are no long-term studies on these pieces. A key issue is that products can be described as biodegradable without reference to the timescale it takes them to fully biodegrade. "There are a tremendous number of papers about degradable polyethylene but no one has really shown a high degradation," says Ann-Christine Albertsson, a polymer researcher at the Swedish Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm and lead author on the critical review. "Of course they degrade in one way – they are losing part of their properties. But if you mean it as a positive for nature, that has not been proved." The Defra report suggests that oxo-degradable fragments left outside in the United Kingdom would become small fragments over two to five years. The biodegradation of these small fragments then proceeds "very slowly", it notes. These plastics should not be composted, as their breakdown fragments will ruin the resulting compost.
"Our conclusion was there is no benefit to the environment of oxo-degradable plastics," Thomas told Nature.
