Emil Salim menerima Midori Prize pada pertemuan CBD di Jepang pada tanggal 27 Oktober 2010 lalu. Midori Prize ini diberikan oleh AEON Environmental Foundation sebagai apresiasi kegiatan beliau pada upaya pelestarian keanekaragaman hayati di Indonesia.

Sekilas tentang Midori prize

The Midori Prize for Biodiversity has been established to mark the twentieth anniversary of the establishment of the ÆON Environmental Foundation and to celebrate the 2010 International Year of Biodiversity. The prize seeks to recognize individuals who have made outstanding contributions in promoting the implementation of the objectives of the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity.

The prize is sponsored by the ÆON Environmental Foundation with the cooperation of the Ministry of the Environment, Japan, the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), and the United Nations University (UNU).

The activities are required to have made outstanding contributions and have had an impact on future activities for biodiversity. The nominations will be judged based on the following categories:

  • International contribution
  • Contribution to conservation and sustainable use
  • Social contribution
  • Long-term viewpoints/Continuity
  • Creativity/Originality
  • Civic mindedness/Broad viewpoints
  • Efficacy/Influence

Nominations are being accepted from April 15 until the closing deadline of June 15 (Tuesday), 2010.
