Abolishing fossil fuel subsidies would boost the world's economy, environment and energy security, the International Energy Agency said on Tuesday, referring to a pledge made by G20 countries.World leaders committed in Pittsburgh in 2009 to phase out, over the medium-term, fossil fuel subsidies which encouraged wasteful consumption. A G20 meeting in Seoul this week may update progress on the goal.

Jakarta, Kompas - Pemerintah Indonesia memperluas keterlibatan negara-negara besar untuk mendukung program pengurangan emisi dari deforestasi dan degradasi lahan.Kerja sama Indonesia sebelumnya dengan Pemerintah Norwegia untuk mendukung program Reducing Emission from Deforestation and Degration (REDD+) akan ditambah lagi dengan Kanada, Amerika Serikat, Inggris, dan Australia.

Vice President Joe Biden is to announce a series of initiatives on Tuesday aimed at helping middle-income Americans make their homes more energy efficient and boost job growth among home retrofitters.The goal of the measures is two-fold -- help Americans keep down energy costs while at the same time laying the groundwork for a larger home energy efficiency industry.
