Jakarta, Kompas - Greenomics Indonesia mempertanyakan komitmen Norwegia dalam mendorong moratorium hutan di Indonesia. Alasannya, Pemerintah Norwegia diduga turut menanamkan saham di lima grup perusahaan sawit yang beroperasi di Kalimantan Tengah.
”Dana yang dihasilkan dari pendapatan migas Norwegia yang didepositokan melalui The Government Pension Fund-Global (GPFG) ditanamkan ke lima grup usaha sawit. Grup usaha ini memiliki beberapa anak perusahaan yang beroperasi di perkebunan sawit di Kalimantan Tengah tanpa memiliki izin pelepasan kawasan hutan dan atau izin pemanfaatan kayu,” kata Elfian Effendi, Direktur Eksekutif Greenomics Indonesia di Jakarta, Kamis (3/3).[read]

Some of Antarctica's ice sheet is formed by water re-freezing from below not just by snow falling on top as was traditionally thought, findings showed on Thursday that will help scientists project effects of climate change.Experts are seeking to understand the frozen continent since even a small thaw could swamp low-lying coastal areas and cities. Republicans in the House of Representatives introduced a bill on Thursday that would permanently stop the Environmental Protection Agency from regulating emissions blamed for warming the planet.President Barack Obama would veto a bill that permanently blocks the agency from tackling climate change, administration officials have said.
