YAC Free Online Short Course on "Non-profit Management - Participatory planning, monitoring and evaluation for impact"

Course Description:
Learn the basis for the concepts around learning, participation, facilitation and leadership, and change management, which are central to managing for impact. A start will be made with the first phase of strategic design: situation analysis, which includes institutional, and stakeholder's analysis and a more in depth analysis of problems, issues, visions and opportunities.
In the second week we will build on the outcomes of the situation analysis and initial visioning and think through more clearly what change we wish to bring about and what our theory is on the pathway towards this vision. We will introduce theory of change, theory of action, strategic plan developing a theory of action. Also participants will be able to explore some specific monitoring & evaluation methodologies and methods and share these with fellow participants.
The last part of the course will focus on paper work and analyzing monitoring & evaluation system of your project/programme. The aim is on the one hand to apply participant knowledge and skills gained during the course and on the other hand to review an existing monitoring & evaluation system and provide suggestions for improvement.
Main goal of the course:
To give new insights about:
• The principles of participatory and learning orientated planning, monitoring and evaluation
• Design and manage M&E systems that support adaptive and flexible project and programme management in complex, multi-stakeholder environments
• Provide support in assessing and enhancing impact of the project / programme / organization / network
• Further strengthening your own competence to facilitate participatory planning and M&E processes.
After the process particpants will have better understanding of how to identify problem and mirror this towards positive change in the community/area. Besides this they will also be aware how to proceed with project planning with sound understading of strategic thinking.
This course will be run by experienced community worker Atta-ur-Rehman.

Register your interest in participating in this online course by reading the YAC student guide attached and completing the online application form at [ http://www.kwiksurveys.com/online-survey.php?surveyID=KINENF_7d61873f ] by the 27th of April 2010. This course is designed for young people aged 18-30 who are actively involved in making a difference in their communities and who have ideas for projects they would like to undertake. The course will be restricted to 25 participants chosen by application. Participants must be able to attend the whole session of the course and complete homework tasks in order to obtain a certificate of completion. Participants must also have regular internet access (at least 5 hours per week) to join course sessions. Successful participants will be notified by the 5th of May.
