SEADocs – The Southeast Asian Student Documentary Award is a competition to encourage the art of documentary filmmaking in the region as a platform to engage with pressing social and environmental issues.
The 2011 competition invites students aged 18 – 28 in Cambodia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam to submit a portfolio of their work and a motivational essay on making a film under the theme "Tree{s} of Life: Seeds of Change" by September 9, 2011.
A jury of film, television and forestry experts in each country will make a selection of three students based on a portfolio of their work and a motivational essay. The national short listed students will then receive expert guidance during the 8 week production period of their competition film.
During the production period, the film ideas of the students will be explored and developed under guidance of a consultant and the students will receive a budget grant of US$ 300 (Note: these figures can be listed in local currency equivalent actually) to produce a short documentary film (maximum 10 min. in length) in relation to the theme, which must be submitted by November 11, 2011.
The three regional winners are selected by an international jury and receive a cash prize of US$ 500 each. Furthermore, the first place winner receives a grant of up to US$ 5,000 to produce a feature length documentary.

SEADocs - The Southeast Asian Student Documentary Award merupakan sebuah kompetisi untuk mendorong seni pembuatan film dokumenter sebagai dasar untuk menghadapi berbagai permasalahan lingkungan dan sosial yang menekan.
Kompetisi tahun 2011 ini mengundang para pelajar usia 18-28 di Kamboja, Indonesia , Filipina , Thailand dan Vietnam untuk mengikutsertakan portfolio dan esai-esai motivasional mereka mengenai pembuatan film dengan tema "Pohon (-pohon) Kehidupan: Benih-benih Perubahan" hingga tanggal 9 September 2011.
Kelompok juri yang terdiri dari para ahli di bidang film, televisi dan perhutanan akan memilih 3 siswa berdasarkan portfolio pekerjaan dan esai-esai motivasional mereka. Para pelajar yang masuk dalam babak penyisihan nasional akan menerima bimbingan para ahli selama 8 minggu periode produksi film mereka.
Selama periode produksi, ide-ide film para siswa akan dipelajari dan dikembangkan dibawah bimbingan seorang ahli dan menerima biaya sebesar IDR 2.500.000 untuk memproduksi sebuah film dokumenter pendek (maksimum 10 menit) yang sesuai dengan tema. Film-film ini akan dikumpulkan pada tanggal 11 November 2011.
Tiga pemenang regional yang terpilih oleh para juri internasional masing-masing akan menerima hadiah berupa uang tunai sebesar IDR 4.200.000, sedangkan pemenang pertama akan menerima hadiah berupa uang tunai sebesar IDR 42.500.000 sebagai biaya produksi sebuah film dokumenter panjang.
